Background of the study
Instagram Story captions in Nigeria represent a fusion of visual and textual storytelling that has redefined traditional syntactic structures. Users craft captions that complement images and videos, often employing creative punctuation, unconventional sentence structures, and hybrid language forms to enhance visual narratives (Afolabi, 2023). These digital visual narratives encourage brevity and innovation, leading to syntactic shifts that challenge standard grammar. Nigerian users, influenced by cultural heritage and global digital trends, adapt their language to fit the transient, engaging format of Instagram Stories. The study explores how these captions contribute to syntactic evolution by analyzing language patterns and comparing them with conventional syntactic norms. Statement of the problem
